What is a Doula?
A doula is a support person who provides educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual support during various transitions in life. Doulas are commonly known to provide support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. There are also doulas who specialize in providing support during death. Doulas are not a replacement for a medical provider (midwife or obgyn) and do not perform clinical skills such as cervical exams, taking vital signs, etc.
What is a Full Spectrum Doula?
Full Spectrum Doulas support people during pregnancy, labor & birth, postpartum, and during times of loss (abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, death of an infant).
What is a Birth Worker?
Birth worker refers to a variety of roles that focus on providing information and care during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. This includes midwives, doulas, birth assistants, lactation consultants, nurses, childbirth educators, and more.
